the car?
Use the recommended grade premium fuel. You will have no worries of knock sensors ,burning holes through pistons, read the section in your manual about procedures to follow if forced to use anything other them premium.Do you really want to go around at 2/3 throttle or granny drive up hills? It is a high compression engine it needs high test fuel, you gain back in mpg what you pay out for the 20 cents and your engine won't suffer detonation at the wrong time.

Don't even listen to peeps that run regular, they know not what they do,and when they sell their cars, they lack the ***** to say they fed it a steady diet of regular fuel because they know it was the wrong thing to do but were to cheap to admit it.

I started to run 87 in my E430 but I started to notice a lot of black smoke in the exhaust!
I decided to go back to 91 and the smoke went away and both the car and I are much happier!

youd be more likely to damage a hyper piston than to throw a rod from some detonation on a mild 220bhp V6.

Why would anybody buy a Mercedes and then want to cheap out and put in regular gas? Even with the price differential at $.30 a gallon, that's still less than 10%. You will get at least 10% better mileage using the grade of fuel the manufacturer calls for. I only use premium. I want to get all of the performance my car was designed to deliver.

A seach of the forums for "premium gas" or "regular gas" will find all kinds of discussions on this topic.

I hope this helps.
