need help adding distilled water to battery

presuming, of course, that your battery is wet and traditional lead, acid (and
not AGM or recombinant etc)
- when you look inside through the filler tubes, you should see that the tubes
extend down an inch or so. these are the tube sidewalls. the water level
should come up just shy of the bottom of the tube.
- replenish with distilled water BEFORE you begin charging
- if trickle charging, try to charge at a rate no more than 10% of the battery's
rated amperage (or use a tapering smart charger)
- if you have a hydrometer, you can check specific gravity of the solution.
the gauge (anywhere from $5-30) will give visual indication by how high
the internal float rises.
- keep box of baking soda on hand in case of spills. it will neutralize the
acid on skin, etc. but be sure not to spill any into battery.
