Two questions

1. I posted a question in the tire forum, but Luke died. For a 235/45/17 original tire size, can I put 245/45/17 tires on the3 same wheel without any odd wear issues?

2. Anybody aware of a source for chrome foglight rings for the round sport style fogs?

I have a older Plymouth that calls for 195/70/14 and called Chrysler to ask how wide I could go. They said I should have no problem with 205/70/14 and I have been running those for a long time and thery are wearing fine with 5000 mile balance and rotations. I realize that we are talking about vastly different animals here, but the same increase in size. I don't think upping 235 to 245 would present any problems.

you will need a 245/40/17 tire. you have to multiply the width by the thickness to create a ratio. thats why people with staggered setups ahve 235/45 245/40. not completely sure, but i'm almost certain.

Tommy is correct if you want your odometer and speedometer to read as accurately as possible. In that case you are trying to achieve the same circumference (translates to revolutions per mile) as the original tires.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
A 245/40/17

will be 6/10 of an inch lower in diameter and require 20 more revs per mile then your oe tire.
A 245/45/17 will be 3/10 of an inch taller and require 10 fewer revs per mile.Your speedometer will be more accurate your effective rear gear ratio will be more conducive for higher mpg.
the choice you picked is better of the two.
You are keeping the same rim size so you multiply tire width times the aspect ratio to get sidewall height.
Tommy was on the right track for plus sizing rims but you are only changing tire width not rim diameter, and in this case the math works out in favor of the 245/45/17.
A 245 on the front on stock rims may have some clearance issues.
The E55 had 245's on the front but it also had offset (ET) of 31 on the front rims to make room for the wide meats and the fender lips were rolled.
You might be better off looking for a set of 18's with the proper offsets.
you multiply the width(245) by the profile Ratio in this case 45% or .45 and you get your sidewall height. That times 2 + the diameter of the wheel will give you the overall diameter That is the number you are concerned with.
Not circumference, since that is merely a function of Pi*D .

Are you kidding about Luke?
