Hi All,

I bought a 1996 E320 for my wife about 2 months ago. Paid $4k and put about $1k into it. Over the July 4th weekend, my next-door neighbor's party guest backed into it and crushed the driver-side rear door. We've received three estimates, two at over $2k and one over $1k. I'm trying to get this done right, but reasonably in consideration of my neighbor. Pics below, any advice?

internal damage could easily push it over $2k. compare the details in the
quotes. this isn't something that can be done viewing a single picture.
check window and door operation, air bag (if applicable) etc.

Door shell is $400. The metal skin is $120. Depends on how deep the dent goes inside the shell.

I recommend getting a used door and repainting.

Your best/cheapest bet may be to get used door and repaint as Hirnbeiss suggested, Also there is a body shop that does great work called Enzo's in white plains, Mercedes in white plains uses them.


They repainted/repaired my lower fog light/bumper after I hit two giant racoons and you can't tell it was ever painted, and desert silver is a hard color to match!
