Tire Size Question
Hi Guys
I have a 2000 E320 with stock 16x7.5 alloy wheels and 215/55/16 tires. I just got some chrome 16x8 oem Mercedes wheels. What tire size should I buy. I am trying to keep it as stock as possible and I am trying to keep the speedometer as close and possible to actural speed.
Thanks

was 215/55/16 not 15's? you can go to a 225/50/16 and only be off a few revs per mile. Why not go to 17's and install 235/45/17
You want to stay away from chrome anyway, they chip, rust, leak and are generally a pain in the .
what is the offset?

I think there is a typo.. The tire size you meant should be 215/55/16 not 215/55/15.
Anyways, I would still use 215/55/16. This size of tire can go on 7" or 8" rims.
Another option is 225/50/16 which may be almost an inch shorter in overall diameter.
Here is a link to compare tire specs.

225/50
is 16 revs per mile. The best choice on a 8in wide rim and closest to oe rolling dimeter.
225/45 is 46 revs more per mile that would be like underdrive.
215/50 you are off 30 revs per mile
Go with the 225/50 on an 8in rim it will hold a better sidewall, there is plenty of room for it and it will look and perform better.
