RIP e320, NEXT?????

It was a nice comfy 2 weeks of daily driving my e320 before I was involved in a 6 car pileup wednesday morning. I just got word that they quit estimating the damages once they hit 10k and the car was totalled. I am driving my father's garage queen clk500 while I figure out what to do next.

My dilema- which requires your help. I need a car that fits these requirements. I have a 6 month old, so I need a car with easy enough rear seat access. We use my wife's car when possible for family outings but once a week or so we pile up into my daily driver so a coupe is "ok," but not ideal. After driving the clk, I want a little more performance than the 3.2... but not too much so that it will ruin my gas mileage. I want to stay in the ~10k range and I do an 80 mile per day commute.

Options:
1. Another w210 E320 or e430
2. An older clk 1999-2003
3. 2000+ BMW 3 series with a lot of miles
4. Lexus GS - - high mileage but it is a toyota!
5. your suggestion here
and lastly:
6. Screw the attempt at saving money and go for the 2000+S or CL class with relatively high mileage.

I know the S/CL class are considered a maintenace nightmare so I will probably stay away from the rediculously plush car. How are BMWs for maintenance?

Some things to consider...

W220 S class (either 430 or 500 engine, gas milage is 2MPG's give or take)

a w210 is a solid choice...i love the car..plain and simple

a clk has relative ease for backseat, but for most comfort id say the S, then a CL if you have some extra dough lying around. comes in 430 engine as well....but ive heard from multiple owners that the V8 should have more power than it does...maybe because the 320 v6 came so well tuned....

As long as its a 2004+ S class with the airmatic system checked, you should be good to go as far a maintenance on the merc.

good luck, and glad to hear your ok

uh, a 221 S-class is most certainly not in the $10k range, and they don't come with the 430 or 500 engine.

were you referring to the W140 s-class (92-99)?

99' E320 4MATIC ESTATE / 92' 190E 2.6
Thumbs up

WAGON!!!
I love my 99' 4matic. Ohlord is so right!. I did the shift reset for the wife and she is loving the newly found performance as it was previously owned by an ederly couple that drove less than 6000 miles a year in Denali, Alaska. They were the second owner 2002 to 2008. I am the third owner. It was originally from Michigan where it was a dealer service car. Very well maintained and suprisingly no rust. When my 92' 2.6 190e dies, if ever, I will purchase another 210 wagon. Probably an 02' and I will swap wagons with the wife! It is truly the perfect car. Luxury/great mpg/reliable/performance. I have had a tough time finding the oem x-bars for the roof rack as I hate the bulky aftermarket types.

A 221 will be 60k easily.

A nice 220 can be had for 35k though

2003 S210 3.8L Brabus wagon
2000-2003 W210 wagon. Up to 29mpg on highway and it hauls it all. Some nice wheels/tires with a window tint and you are in for small bills and a quite nice ride that not everybody has. I think the wagon body is the best looking of the 210 series and the rear end seems to flow better than the sedan. IMO of course. glad to have you alive.
