Need help with cooling problem...

When I am sitting in traffic for, lets say, 20 - 30 minutes in this 98 + degree Dallas weather, my temp gauge has jumped up to almost 100 to 120 degees C almost all of a sudden, but when traffic cleared and I resumed driving, the temperature immediately jumps down to 80 - 85 degrees C. I have replaced the thermostat and even made sure the cap on the tank is tight. I beginning to think that maybe the radiator os clogged or something because it seems to be more of a flow problem. Any ideas?

Thanks,
tbDallas

Check to see if your auxilary fan is coming on, it may either have a dead motor or be stuck (this has happened to me) and if it's stuck its probably damaged and should be replaced anyway
