Check the ground under the car....

The leak is (at least on my car) the result of the connection point between your windshield washer fluid hose (goes internally across the hood as viewed through the slots on the underside of the hood once covers are removed) and spray units corroding (most likely a split developing down the top or bottom of the hose or - if you’re lucky - just loose). The ww fluid is escaping from this leak point.

You can either replace (buy ww fluid hose - roughly $75 - $100) or repair (use some JB weld, clear hose, and mini hose clamps to patch the split connector hose(s) - roughly $5).

If repairing, do yourself a favor and make sure to address both sides at the same time. Also ~ open the hood to its full vertical position by disengaging the lock on the left side hood hinge.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Also sometimes

the line just pops off,and the fluid drains along the vent cover up by the firewall.Fill the tank and have someone operate the pump while you examine by eye and ear where the fluid is going.
screws and tabs are all that hold that vent cover on.
