E430 v. E55
Looking at moving up to a 2002 E 55 from a 2000 E 430. I have not driven an E 55 though. Looking
for some comparison to my car in acceleration off the line and at passing acceleration at highway
speeds? A considerable difference or not?
Anyone driven both?

Acceleration 0-60 6.2secs vs 5.4secs. The 5.4 secs. might be on the conservative side.

Does your E55 have Comand Navigation system also? What Maryland dealer & salesman did you get such a great deal from?
As soon as I sell/trade my 98 E430 I will be pushing an E55 also.
Anyone interested in buying: www.E55AMG.com/E430.html

Have you tried posting this on other sites as well like www.autotrader.com? You might have a better luck selling it there too!
I bought the e55 from Herb Gordon Mercedes dealership. I went to the dealership just to look at the new G500. They had the e55 in the showroom
. When i took it for a test drive i had to buy it. My 2000 e430 had command/nav, the e55 does not. I think you can get command added at the dealership.? They also have a 2002 e55 if you are interestedjefrose55

I went to Herb Gordon, they actually gave me $5k more for my trade than any other dealer and gave me $3k off MSRP. But that was not enough! However, they did not have the car the way I want it. They have to find the E55 - Silver/Charcoal/Comand/K2b.
Do you miss the Comand Nav system? Comand Navigation can not be added at the dealership. And a retrofit is costly. The Nav unit retails for $6k I have heard.
I think that's one hell of a deal even though it's not the exact car you're looking for. Get it and then get an aftermarket NAV. I mean first $5k more for your trade in and $3k off the MSRP!! C'mon!!
Had the command system for two years and enjoyed it. Once you get used to the system it is pretty easy to use. It is a nice toy but not a necessity for me. My salesperson said they can add it for 3k if i really miss it.
For the differences in performance and interior comfort i felt i could give up nav.

I know it was a good deal, however, they did not have the car. Plus, every deal can be beat. Currently I am working on a deal with the same trade amount and $4800 off MSRP. However, again the car has to be found. The dealer is having a hard time finding Silver/Charcoal/Comand/K2b. At first the K2b phone package with the new V60 phone was no where to be found. Yesterday, my dealer said he found one in Ohio and he is trying to swap it.
jefrose55,
The dealer add on navigation system is not the center console Comand unit. It is the Mercedes accessory add on unit which was available pre Comand. It comes with a video screen unit that is attached to and sticks out from the dash. Comand retrofit is not possible by a dealer. A guy on mbnz.org just completed his 2002 E55 Comand retrofit, however, he had to make sacrifices. Check it out:

Wow! $4800 off MSRP! If you can get that do it! Here in CA i don't even think you can get that much off on a E55. But anything is always possible.

First i think you should drive the 55 and right away you can tell the difference. Get the 55 man!! You won't be sorry!
