Pre Mature Outer Edge Tire wear
I have the 18 inch AMG Monoblocks with 235 front and 275 rears on my 01 E430. Just got the car inspected at colony tire and was told the outer edge of my newer tires (installed about two weeks back at Sears) is wearing out and the car needs an alignment else the tires will get destroyed in no time.
I did not trust what I was told so checked the air pressure on the tires first (Front driver side was at 54.5 and Front Passenger side was at 27, Both Rears were at 28.5). I reset all the tires to 34 PSI. My two questions are:
• Is 34 PSI ok for all four tires or should the rears be set a little higher for even tire wear?
• Does a bad alignment truly end damaging the outer edge of the tires? I am fine having it aligned at the Dealer but wanted to find out first as I don’t trust the opinion of Colony Tire.

All
4 tires are showing wear on the outsides after 2 weeks on the car?
Is the car lowered? You don't mention profile of the tires?
Rim offset? It is possible that with the wrong offset and amg wide tires you are rubbing the outer tread off.
If you lowered it you would expect negative camber and the inside to wear quicker, but not in two weeks.Even if you had +5 degrees camber it would not wear them in two weeks and you wouold notice the tires tilting way out at the top edge.
Something is amiss and a trip onto the hunter machine at the dealer is in order.
I run front at 32 rears at 38.

Here is a basic guide for tire wear:

You have an alignment problem. Like ohlord suggests, you need to get alignment readings and check all suspension components and bushings for wear. Most likely a toe-in problem, though.
