1997 E-320 and regular gas

I have a 1997 E-320 that uses Premium gas(91-93). I live in Atlanta,GA and can not find Premium gas. Can I use regular gas(87 octane)?

Of course. Expect performance to be slightly down, though you probably won't even notice.

Have you not heard about the gas shortages down south due to the recent hurricanes?

Regular Gas

If you don't believe me about the gas in Atlanta, go to FoxNews.Com and read the story. Hurricane Ike has shut down the refineries that supply gas to the Atlanta area. People are running out of gas on the interstate and local highways. We have a real problem.

We are lucky to find even regular, 2/3 of stations in Atlanta are out of gas completely, those that do have long lines, sometimes with police directing traffic and preventing fights at the pump. The situation is not good. I have been running my 97 e420 on regular grade for over two years now with no noticeable effects, although I'm sure its down on power a little. I drove past 18 stations this week on a busy thoroughfare ( Cobb Parkway ), every station was out of gas.

Yep it is really bad. I have seven(7) gallons of gas to commute to work this week. I am luckey to only be 9miles from work.

Ps Foreyes are you coming to the race at Road Atlanta this weekend?

With that short of a distance it may be a good time to dust off the old bicycle.

The gas shortage is not going to let up until 10/13 at least. I have 3/4 of a tank right now. Do you really think this kind of advice is constructive? The situation here is no joke
