Headlight Bulb Question

Hi,

One of my headlight bulbs had recently blown. Right now I have the Slyvania Silverstar bulbs in there. They are nice, but i would like my bulbs to be whiter and produce more light. Note: I have halogen hook up not xenon.

Also, how hard it is to replace the fog light bulbs?

Thanks

quite easy. first bulb replace may take 20 mins or so as you feel your way
through it. second one may take 5 mins.

see if this helps.

access is through the hatch beneath the bumper. you can
jack up the car, or you can move the car so it overhangs the curb. slide
underneath. wear reflective pants or something so that an approaching car
doesn't run over your leg or something (seriously, be careful if using the curb
trick).

Headlight

bulbs brighter.

65 watt rally H7 will not trip lamp malfunction and last longer, much brighter.
also carries euro spec selective yellow fog bulbs to cut through fog and rain.
Read his tech articles to learn about auto lighting.
polish your lenses if they are hazed over diy with wet sand paper and plastx over on benzworld.org w210 diy section.

i dont think you're going to be able to get whiter bulb with more lumens, as
the technological limit has pretty much plateaued with halogens. yes, you
can get a whiter/cooler appearance but as I recall, they are blue tinged and
when lumens are measured, they may actually be dimmer.

you can go with higher wattage, as ohlord has suggested, but be aware that
they'll likely burn hotter ºF wise and with that, more heat through the wiring
harness. I doubt that 65 watters will prove detrimental to the harness, but
I personally wouldn't go for something like 80 or 100 watt bulbs.

The

65 watt H7 with the H9 burner on an H7 base is a lot brighter and will not hurt the harness.Read sterns articles on whiter bulbs. What you want is a nice beam pattern and increased viewing distance. The rally beams do that.Per Ray 80's will cook the buckets.

And

I think I also answered the question about whiter by pointing you towards this article,re:silverstar and the claims of whiteness.Read the last paragraph.

My wire harness going into the headlight just recently burned out (melted the socket) using standard bulbs, so I would be careful!

That's

because it was old, dried out,or defective.
65 watts won't hurt a good set of wires.

I use the 65w H7's Huge improvement over oem. Polishing the lenses also helps more than you would think.

Low Beams. High Beams and fog? I also upgraded the side markers and back up lights. You won't be disappointed!!...hey one other thing make sure the lamps are aimed correctly. There is a small leveling device near each lamp..it will be obvious when you see it. Let us know if you like them.

Well I installed two low beam Osram Rallye 65 watt bulbs and I can't tell the difference. I installed just one side first to compare, and they looked exactly the same! What a waste of money...

So would you recommend buying these bulbs?

I do realize that many believe that performance is better than looks, however, if I wanted a bulb that looks good (bright white light), any performs good, what would you all recommend?

Does anyone have a picture of what they look like at night?

Do they produce a regular halogen light (yellowish)?

I just saw a H.I.D conversion kit, were you "plug and play" with it looks like a power pack you have to drill to in back of the unit.

How are these?

Are they worth it?

Don't have a picture yet. However, I can paint you a picture.

The other day I was driving on the highway. I was all alone in the center lane. All of a sudden a brad new Acura with HID's starts approaching in the left lane. While he was next to me driving, my Osram's out-powered his HIDS. I laughed and continued on my way.

There is no need for pictures when I can guarantee a significant difference. They are the same color as any other halogen bulb. But the output is out of this world.

Only one thing. When I received the bulbs from candlepower, the box said for "offroad use only". But, I have not gotten pulled over for them at all, so I would assume they should be ok.

I highly recommend these bulbs. No need to spend $500+ on a conversion kit when you can have the same results for $60. Think about return on investment. Would you rather pay $60 or $500+ for the same return. I know I would choose the lesser of the two.
