His 2019 RAM Cummins Turbo Diesel Laramie; Her's 2007 ML320 CDI P3; Mine BMW R1200R
Why would you want to do this????
Probably easier to buy a non 4matic car.

I'm currently having a problem with my power steering. It has become very hard and not as responsive as before. Someone suggested that I should try disengaging my 4 matic to see if that makes a difference

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
One

has nothing to do with the other.Check your power steering pump. The three differentials are full time 4wheel drive and your ABS and electronic traction control come into play to keep the wheel that is loosing traction under control. You can not disengage it.Nor will it help your steering problem if you could.Get it checked for it will only get worse. Is the pump making noise?

no it isn't making any noise. I did notice that my belt can be displaced over 1" with the engine off but the PS pump pulley is rotating when the engine is cold started. Not sure if I should try replacing the belt to see if that fixes the issue

the steering pulley is probably slipping under load when you turn the steering wheel. You may have a faulty belt tensioner. These belts dont typically stretch over size.
