Brake light switch?

Hi guys, my tail lights do not work when i press the brake. Only the third brake light turns up on top on.
When i turn on all my lights the tail lights light up, but they do not get brighter when the brake is pressed only the third brake light up on top works. Could this be a brake light switch? I've done some research, and i think it may be that? What do you guys think.
This is dangerous to keep this way.

Thank you

Check your

fuse chart located in a slot next to the battery or if it is missing go to benzworld.org w210 diy section and find the 99 fuse chart in the electrical diy's.If the brake switch was bad you would not have the 3rd brake lamp lighting up.and you most likely would have the typical abs esp warning lamps. The 3rd brake light is on a different fused circuit than the regular ones, that is why I think it is a fuse issue.

if not the fuse have you checked the bulbs and the sockets?

You ought to have two fuse charts. One inside the lid of the fuse box under the hood and the other next to the fuse box under the rear seat. One side of the chart is for the front box and the opposite side for the rear box.

And one for the fuse box

located in the flap next to the headlight switch when you open the drivers door, which is where the brake light fuse might be located.Pull fuses with the key off and check them with a multimeter set to ohms for continuity, they can be tricky to test by just viewing at times.

Hmm i did check the fuses today by the light switch. All seem as if they are fine no broken pieces or anything. I even swapped it with o another one and got no luck. I i checked the tail light bulb holders ive had problems with some of the sockets a while back they wouldnt make good contact. The back lights however do turn on when i turn the light switch but they do not get brighter when i press the brake. Can this still be a socket bulb holder problem even though they have power when the light switch is turned on?
When the light switch is off the brake lights do not light up. Also the inner tail lights never light up at all even if the light switch is turned on. I checked those inside the inner tail lights and I'm pretty sure it didn't seem as if they were burnt.
