How do I remove the front timing cover? Infamous oil leak.

The car did this when I first got it but I never knew where it was coming from until yesterday when my dad was repairing a broken oil pan bolt(opps ) while I was in class. We found that the oil pan was 100% sealed FINALLY and there was a slight oil film running down the alternator/secondary air mounting plate. We noticed oil on both sides of the cover in the rear bottom corners. The headgasket was replaced at 27K and I've run this car twice at the dyno pulling several 6400-6500rpm pulls each time so I think I would have already lifted the head or spun a bearing if the headgasket was bad(The headgasket should be the updated one anyway). So yea I'm going to pick up the needed gasket(s) tommorrow after class and replace this thing but I've heard there is some kind of pesky *** pin that needs to be removed? Please help

I love startek, I printed every single possible document on it from the ETM on the w210 e320 lol. I have a 1997 e320 bible.

Thanks for the info...again lol.

On the redline note. There is a mod on my AEM's software that delays the redline signal for the dyno pulls. Its no good for the street as the car will misfire inbetween shifts but I like the extra 1000rpm as a cushion so I know its powerband throughly without having to bounce it on the rev limiter. I dont like bouncing my car off the redline on the dyno because I appreciate my motor mounts Also it scares me to think of it loosening up and flying off the dyno lol.

The pesky *** pin is actually staraightforward to remove using a bolt and a stack of washers for leverage. These pins are used on several MB engines, so learning how to handle them is a required part of your Jedi training.
If you don't remove the pin, you can still get the cover off, but you won't get the rubber gasket to seat properly (yes, I wasted a day trying once).
The I think the bolt needed is m8 fine pitch, but it's been awhile.
