Projector questions

Hi

I purchased two pairs of "E55" hella bixenon projectors. One of the pairs looked like the projectors we see pictures of everywhere. the other pair has two additional shields.

I understand the shield inside the bowl is to limit light output right in front of the car or something..

So I have the following questions:

What does the shield on the outside do?
Can I expect any better performance from one of the pairs over the other?

I'm also swapping the lenses to clear zkw replica lenses on the pair with additional shields... Have anyone tried this? Were there any problems?

s-
be aware that though we popularily refer to it as E55, I know that Maxima uses
this projector as OEM. what I don't know is whether other manuf uses it also.
the external, cone enclosure no doubt controls the side lighting being emitted.
I'd have to study the car headlight assembly before i draw any conclusions.

email Zam2000 to see if he's had experience with the unit in pic1.

one thought i have is whether you should try to have two units the same so
their appearance is balanced.

i, too, have the zkw but so far, they're just sitting on the project bench. i have
a motorcycle which is commanding my attention first.

I seem to remember someone saying that one might be left side and the other for the right side. Does that make sense? Possibly an extra shield for left side (or right depending on country) for oncoming traffic? just a thought.

There is another shield for the driver's side projector, IF they are different.. but I have a matching pair without any difference from left to right
