brake sensor???
could somebody tell me how many break sensors should be on e320 1999 MB.
when I have checked on mine I do have 2 on front wheels(one on each side)
but on the back is only one on the rear right side (passenger side)
on the rear left side there is none .Also in MB service saying there is only one on the back but in MB parts department they say should be two on the back and in the computer for parts list showing two.
I am bit confused here could somebody verified this please.
..sensor is only couple bucks but it is convenient to have them.
but 3 sensors does not sound wrong..
I have only 2. one on each outer pad on the front. nothing on the rear brakes...
I like e320 it is so user friendly .I put some lubricant for high heat on the sliding pin and top and the bottom of pads(metal part only not braking surface). On the side where are shims added a bit of brake glue (blue) to get attached to both calipers and also to eliminate high pitched noise during braking.works great so far . but still sensor is only on one rear right side.I think that if you are doing regular checkup for brakes you really do not need any of those sensors to tell you when is time to replace brake pads.Anyway it is good idea to check brakes every 6 months and lubricate it ,especially sliding ping because this one tends to rust so much and in that case one of the pads is wearing faster than other one as well damaging rotor too.But if you are noticing on time you can save rotors by machining them for about $10-$15 each.
I am using white grease for high heat as lubricant ,because "anti siz" grease during exposure to dust and high heat somehow hardener and does not serve purpose.
Bottom line do not use dealer for some simple stuff only for something major, but we are talking abot MBenz here so there is no major issue with it unless you forget to do maintance yourself.
regular oil change 0W40 syntetic mobile one $9.00 per bottle and
every 80 000 km change transmission oil ,even if they say it is for life do not belive it.7.3 liter syntetic oil from MB dealer (sorry this is only thing you can not get around $ 16.00 per bottle) transsmision filter ,gasket you can find aftermarket and make sure to put one or two magnets inside transsmission oil pan because MB ingineers forgot to put one to attract all bad metal paricales and save you transsmission for long time.remember drain oil from the oil pan and after that from torque convertor and after that add new oil.
one more hint because there is no dipstick for transsmission oil so in order to avoid buying from dealer for about $120 you can use trotlle cable for lawnmover cost $7.00 take middle wire out and that is it you have same dipstick like original for less money.
if you need more info how to make this gadget cable pls ask and will give you measerement from bottom cold randge and hot range (cold range at 20 deg first and second hot range at 80 deg.) it is fun driving MB.
best regards
