Instrument cluster bulbs

Hi

What type of bulbs are there in the instrument cluster in my 01 W210?
And how many?

I plan to replace all of them, with leds...

And how do I remove the cluster? Can I use the cluster removal tool (the two hooks)? I can't see anywhere to put them into the cluster like on the 98 W210..

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
It

uses an assortment of different sizes and low watt bulbs all of which you will have problems with if you replace with leds.
The hooks insert just at the point where the wood and the lower dash meet at the cluster at about mid point.insert vertical and turn inwards to engage the teeth on the backside and wiggle out.

But why will I get problems if I replace with leds?

Messing

with Mercedes electronic balanced resistance. And Leds light pattern coming out the front in a directional beam, instead of radiating out all directions like the teeny tiny incandescent bulbs. If not done correctly cluster looks very very bad.Like led bulbs in stock tail light buckets, nobody can see them but the guy that installed them

oohkay.. I'll see what I can do then...

Then plan is to replace every single bulb/diode in the interior to get a cleaner look than the stock yellowish lights everywhere... I don't like that...

Just to expand on what ohlord said, its not like you cant do it. You can its just a hassle to find the correct bulbs and stuff. LEDS can work great you just need to find the correct ones that emit the right amount of light in the directions you are wanting. People have changed their instrument lighting to LEDs and the results are pretty awesome but dont expect just to buy a bulb and be able to stick it in. I went through 4 different types of bulbs for my turn signal leds most of them were not bright and some were not lighting up the whole reflector in the turn signal and I finally found one that was bright and lit up the whole reflector. Great look, and great function.

I know how leds work I'm an electrician by profession, and electronics is part of my education.

But thank you for the info anyways

Maybe I'll build my own bulbs....
