Flashing gas light P0455

E320 1997

Cleared the P0304 and P0300 codes - Inginition coil on 4

Still have intermitant flshing gas light and eventually CEL P0455

I never top off gas

I have replaced gas cap with OEM cap which does look different that the original but seem correct and tight

I have cleaned prurge valve and hose with the correct CRC product

Used mechanic stethoscope and valve seems to be working perfectly

Engine seems to be running smooth but I want to clear issue

any other ideas

Vacuum Lines

Are the vacuum lines the lines from two lines on the purge valve?

Yes OEM cap but you can not get the exact looking cap that was previously on car

It is flatter now

Could it be the gas filter - Gas filter is way over do

I did run a tank with seafoam 6 months ago but I need to change filter

I have the part and will do it next week

If I need smoke test who will do it and how much will it cost

Where would you epect to see the leak in a smoke test?

Thanks

Any of the

myriad of lines from the tank to the purge valve.Someplace in the evap system air is getting in and fumes are getting out.And it monitors that and says no no no.
Check the lines at the canister, they dry out and break.

Was it a dealer cap?Your local smog station may test a cap for free.

What's a "gas light?"

The light shaped like a gas pump simply indicates low fuel.

Gross

leak .040inch or bigger is indicated by flashing gas light.Happens before a code is set. That is what he means
Bad cap, broken evap line, leak in something,he needs to find.
flip the gasket over on the new fuel cap you got from autohausaz.com.Get underneath and look for loose hoses on the evap canister.
you can't buy a smoke machine they are $$$
http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1...em_tester.html
find a shop with one if you can't find the leak. You won't pass smog and the light will drive you nutty.
This is a diagram of the M112 and M113 system very similar to your M104 with some minor changes, but this is the path you need to search.

maybe shucks or autozone rents them

No access to smoke test

I don't have access to a lift or smoke machine/testing site

I will have to put the car up on ramps and see if I can inspect vacuum hoses

I was hoping for an esier answer

Fuel cap

would be the easier anwser.Seeing as you ruled that out, hunting down a 4/100ths hole is up next
Swap a cap with someone with a known good cap.Look at the hoses to the charcoal canister and valve and proceed forward from there.

I found out that regular gas is what causing the problem! I started using premium gas and one gas treatment and my gas light stop flashing after about 20 miles and my check engine light went off.
