Tire Question - Important

I have a friend that is looking at buying my tires from my sl55 to put on his 2002 E320 station wagon. He has 245/40/18 in front and 275/35/18 in rear on it right now.

My tire sizes are 255/40/18 and 285/35/18. Would these tires fit on his car? Any chance of making them work?

Thanks.

It's getting awefully wide in the front. I guess it'll depend on the offset of your front wheels. IIRC, my front wheel offset was 32mm (235/40/18F, 7.5 inch wide rims) and I was rubbing.

BTW, you have a picture of your friend's wagon?

Just

check his et v.s. your Sl and if close swap tires.255 on the front is a no go.At least without tucking them way in and also rolling the fenders. Is his wagon dropped?Typical offset for your AMG is about 35 and without going to a 30-31 ET on the front even his 245's will pose issues.

I will have to ask him about the offset of his existing wheels. All he is looking at is the tires. So does that mean that the rears won't be an issue then?

I am running 245 40 18 on an 8.5 with ET35 in front not lowered with no issues and 285 35 18 on a 9.5 with ET35 in the rear with no issues on E320 W210 wagon. A 255 will rub on the front upper suspension bolt and cut the tire. The rears have clearance again not lowered. Mark Cummins is also running same widths on a lowered wagon. Check his posts.

If anyone had used 255 tires in front please let me know. I need to know what offset if any would allow them to run ok.
