00-02 E55 rims will fit the 99 E55. Although I don't think Micheling Pilot Sport A/S are winter tires. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The A/S's are "All Season". Though NO tire will be great in snow with the power of these beasts. BUT, these wheels and tires will beat the 18's I have on now. Plus, $600 for the set...can't be beat.

Also for just TWO 275/35/R18's would run me $540 shipped.... GRRRRR!!

Save your money

pilot A/S are not recommended on the w210's. You would not want 275's for the rear if you could get snows in 275's.
Get a set of w210 16 inch rims cheap and some 215/55/16 winter tires for about $100 each from tire rack or costco.Keep your foot out of it for the winter and you will be able to go in the snow and still find chains that you can chain up all four if the going gets real bad.
besides a 245 on a 35 et.Might pose problems on the front since your E55 runs 245's on a 30 or 31 et,correct?

you should be able to wheel up in good winter tires and some road rashed 16's for less than the above 600 bucks and you won't be going on mr. Toads wild ride if a Nor'easter hits.

Why are they not recommended? I just got a set of 235/45zr17s put on my car yesterday and haven't noticed any ill effects. They feel a LOT better than my worn out Continental Extreme Contacts.

I also dissed Conti's in favor of Michelins. The Conti's were harder and always felt like having developed sort of a 'flat spot' the first few km's after the car was parked overnight.

Mercedes issued

a TSB about the pilot a/s and issues involved with keeping the car in spec alignment wise.
If you check with the dealer they will give you details on the tsb.

Ok, so if I wanted to stay with my18's. What would you recommend I get for my rears? Tires that would help me at least a LITTLE in the colder weather? If it snows pretty good, i'll just leave it parked and use my girl's Civic....
