Reasons for – Limp Mode??

My car started riding real rough yesterday. So I pulled to a side turned it off and started back in about two minutes and the problem was gone. I understand that it went into limp mode causing the vibration/rough ride but my questions is what are the reasons for the limp mode…….I have not spilt anything close to the shift console, also I had the notorious electrical connector leak about 5k back and it was fixed.

Do I need to have the car checked up for this or was this just a one off situation/glitch?

Cheers

As I understand it, the 'limp home' mode is designed primarily to protect the transmission. Are you sure that's what happened? Limp home mode gives only two gears -- 2nd and reverse and limits RPMs to about 2500 or so.

If the car's running fine now (as before), wait to see if it happens again. If it does, time to investigate. If it makes you nervous, you could have the dealer scan the car for trouble codes (Not OBD but MB).

Good luck.

time to ask ohlord !! but there are a few reasons as to why/how a benz can go into limp mode. this very well could have been a "glitch" but just make sure things are good under the hood. check to make sure everything is clamped in correctly and there arent any split hoses....but really just make sure things are clamped and things look relatively normal (for this particular case). I mean its working fine now so i dont really think it is that serious. in my opinion, if it was real serious....you'd know it.

hope everything is good and happy holidays.
