blower motor regulator
chances are it has been replaced previously in your 1997, so all you would have to do is buy a new regulator (~$150) and replace it yourself.
if you have the old one, than you have two choices. eithe buy the updated regulator along with the new blower (big$), or you could buy the regulator from the s-class (w140) which will work with the old blower with a little adaptation. do a little search within mbworld if that's the case, because people have done it before and is fairly easy. good luck
your parts shop should be able to tell you what regulator by getting the build date of the car on the tag in the drivers door pillar.Look at the diy first to see if you have the same blower and regulator as the usa versions.
Once I get this part what is the little adaptation I have to make?
thanks Rafael
The modification is to retain and splice part of the W210 regulator harness onto the W140 regulator. Mercedesshop.com also has a write up on this retrofit. I think it has part numbers too.
DO check your's out first...... Blowers/heat sinks and regs were updated in the US in early or mid 98 production; reg's only were replaceable thereafter. Euro's might have gotten updated sooner than ours did.
