Any AMG monoblocks that fit W210 & W220?

I've currently got a W210 but am looking to upgrade to an '05 or '06 W220 (or W215) in a few months time.

My W210 is currently bone stock and am thinking of putting some of the AMG monoblocks on it but would want the ability to transfer these to the W220/W215 when I purchase that...if it doesn't come with them.

I'm being pretty picky about the W220/W215 I'm after so it might already come with the AMG wheels (based on the other optional extras I'm after), or it could make my life easier by making them one less thing to look for...

I've read a couple of threads about 'will my wheels fit' but as I've never changed one thing on the cars I own the terminology has lost me a little Any pointers would be most useful.

Thanks.

P.S. Not sure if this is W210 topic or W220 so I'll put it in both for the moment. Hope this doesn't bother anyone...

The most often changed size is to go to a staggered 18 set up with widths of 8-8.5 inches up front and 9-9.5 inches in the rear. Optimal tire sizes for this would be a 235 to 245-40-18 in front and 265 to 285-35-18 for the rear set. Offset for non AMG, non 4 matic would be ET 35 stamped on the back of the wheel. This holds for the post face lift W/S 210 models from 6/99 to 2003. I am not as certain of the pre-face lift models of 1996-1999 vintage. When going to the largest of the aforementioned front wheel/tire size it is strongly suggested to roll the front fender lip between 10AM and 2PM such as in the AMG cars for proper clearance. There is a DIY (do it yourself) elsewhere on this furom site on just how to do that. If the car is not lowered and is stock height then the smaller front size should work well without a fender lip roll. A safe suggestion would be 18x8 w/235-40-18 front and 18-8 or 18-9 w/ 265-35-18 rear both with 35ET for offset. Again this is MHO for post face lifted W/S210 cars that are not lowered. Best of luck and welcome.

Edit. Another thought is for 17x8 all around with a 235-45-17 giving the ability to rotate your tires and also at less overall cost. Many options to consider out there. Make sure you get a bolt set to match your wheel and car application from the wheel manufacturer.

I think

at an et of 45 on most w220 rims you are not going to find that transfer possible.Stick with your current rims on the w210 and if (god forbide) you move onto a w220 which you will regret, then get the proper rims you like. For the proper rims may be the only thing you will find tolerable with the w220
Whom ever replies first will protest the loudest,me thinks

Thanks for the responses, both of you, looks like this is a no-go. Nevermind.

ohlord, why the dislike/warning about the W220? Reliability? I'm going to bag myself an '05 or '06 model as it seems these are the most reliable of the W220s...for me with a '99 E Class it is a tossup between owning and putting money into an ageing vehicle or a relatively new one. The W210 is my favourite E Class but the W220 my favourite S With the prices down so much in recent months I can see no better time to snap up one, or a W215, for cheap

Thank you for that info, I was looking to go stagg set up but wasn't sure of the fender roll process.

With proper hubcentric spacers & bolts, yes. Just had the new wheels installed - staggered w221 S600 18" wheels with 235/40 and 265/35 tires, along with 10m hubcentric spacers and appropriate wheel bolts.

BTW, this is my 3rd set of S600 wheels I have fit to the w210 with the same spacers & bolts mentioned above:

1. early w220 S600 forged 17" wheels with 235/45 tires
2. late w220 S600 forged 18" wheels with 235/40 tires
3. w221 S600 forged staggered 18" wheels with 235/40 & 265/35 tires

Our car has run over 100k miles on the w220 wheels and we have never had an issue
