CEL Code P0115

Check engine light came on recently on the 2001 E320 Wagon 4Matic, and AutoZone's OBDII showed code P0115. I replaced the coolant sensor with a dealer part and cleared the code, but a week later the light is back on. The input voltage is 5V to the sensor, and and the harness and plug looks OK. Cleared the code again, and sure enough back on after a few days.
Any help/tips here? Thanks!

The circuit to the ecu could be

malfunctioning.Check your t stat for proper temp and then since you have done the most prudent steps, the next step will be off to a sds machine at an indie.Probably something simple, but since you cant see inside circuits, the sds will need to isolate it.

Thanks... Figured I would need to get a SDS machine involved. No indie known in the area, so looks like a trip to the dealer....

$18.00 from the dealer. Takes about 10-15 minutes to change once you get the feel of things.

Are you sure that you purchased a coolant temp sensor for an M104. They are screwed in the rear!!

What was the part number you purchased?? and is the sensor for the VIN under your name??

Does your temperature gauge(in the cluster) behave normally, like it always used to?

The gage was working fine, the only problem I had ,was for the electric cooling fans will not kick when the temp got too hot,I already replaced the sensor and figured it out ,, all I needed was to take my time to find out how they mount it on top of the engine, was held in place with a CLIP, kinda like C-clip , took less than 5 minutes to replace it once I found out how it was mounted,
Thank you for your help.
Good day to you all

Anybody understand Plutoe?

None of the cars in question have an M104 designation engine. The E320 V6 is M112 the 1997 orphan motor E420 has an M119.
Anyone hazard a guess what the heck he is talking about and why he or anyone needs needs a VIN or is something other than the coolant sensor getting screwed in the rear as he put it?
Signed,
Confused

I do have great respect for the simple way you always answer others questions, you make the technical approach as simple as you write it, 1+1= 2.. I really appreciate your wonderful advises, most of all is the LOGICAL way of analyzing the function of every part, you really made it sound so simple,, I have lived all my life under one simple believe, ((if a man made it,, another man can fix it)) <o:p></o:p>
Rob. <o:p></o:p>
Thank you so much for your help and as you know,, some people like to pretend knowledge.<o:p></o:p>
Good day<o:p></o:p>
