Star Diagnosis
As my MB stealer now is charging between 1000 and 2000 NOK/150-300USD an hour when they use the star diagnosis on my car I have thought about buying a system myself. Also I have a friend who runs an independent workshop. He is an old MB mechanic and that is mostly what he is working with. He also was interested in Star, but not interested in bying it the same way the dealers does as that will be waaay to expensive. we're talking 10 000 dollars + HUGE monthly fees.
So I came over some auctions on ebay

Are these legit? Can he use one of these complete systems, or only the software with another compatible laptop and multiplexer legitimate commercially? I wouldn't have any problem with buying it for my own private use, but as he runs a business the case may be different...
edit: I see there weren't only software available on american ebay, but german ebay had several..

Are you having so much problems then? My car has been readout just once in over two years of ownership...
Anyways I heard the aftermarket solutions are able to readout everything but aren't able to set and/or reset all of the deeper parameters the real stardiag is able to.

We have three newer MBs and star is so much more than reading of error codes. for example I just had my transmission reset. I'm going to retrofit multi contour seats. they need star programming, comand retrofit needs programming and so on..
anyways, what I really was wondering was if one of these solutions can be used legitimate commercially?
