Air Conditioning not working
Good evening,
I have 2001 MB E320, and my air conditioning unit is stuck in economy mode. I undestand that the air conditioning clutch will not engage in economy modehowever, how do get the car out of the economy mode. I tried pushing the button and that did not work. Please help me because it is starting to get really humid outside.

It has shut down to protect the compressor. You need to determine why.
Go here, read this page. http://www.eclassbenz.com/node/27
After you collect the data discussed thereon, enter at this site and get back to us. http://www.eclassbenz.com/acdiag
Pressing and holding both auto button while on the error code screen deletes the codes. You might clear them before doing too much more and see if they return. FF means no codes present. Write them down first......

If his
ec light is on running the obd will provide no info since the compressor is shut down. You need to have the system charged and leak detected, most likely it is gone with the wind
Fix the leak,fix the problem.

He can run them
but since the compressor is not running the data will be skewed I.E. how would you get a valid reading of evap temp sensor if the a/c is not running?
Since it usually shows no error code and just an invalid out of range temperture when faulty, without the compressor running how would that number be valid?
Per the instructions
Your 'EC' light must be off for the A/C to work. If the light will not shut off when you press the 'EC' button, this usually means one of three things: (1) You're low on refrigerant; (2) You have a defective refrigerant pressure sensor (usually caused by excess moisture in the system); or (3) You have a defective refrigerant temperature sensor.
Best bet check for r134a in system charge with a gauge and find the leak and get it fixed.
Silly stupid ways of diagnostics is the rule.Otherwise a P0170 and P0173 obd2 codes would say you probably have a bad maf not LT Fuel Trim Malfunction

But, if you run the program and see low refrigerant level; at the end of the test procedure you can clear the codes so you can restart the compressor and add the R134a; then re-run the test to get correct data.
