Cool 1999 E-320 (Sedan)

Hello everyone.
I recently purchased a 1999 model E-320. So far, I am very happy with the purchase, but I have a couple of questions:
1- What is the difference b/w an E-320 (W124) and a (W210)??

2- Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement Charcoal filter element for the A/C unit at a decent price?? It seems everywhere I look these things run in the neighborhood of 100 -130 dollars.

Thanks in avdance

w124 series began in mid to late 80's and ended 1995. w210 series began 1996 and ended last year. w211 is newest e.

lots of places to fill diy needs. i've used randy at eps parts and the guys at performance products. don't have the web addresses offhand but both have sites and 800 nos and will sell you oe or oem.

Besides the change in body style, the W124 e320 differs from your 1999 because it has an inline 6. 1996 and 1997 w210s had the inline 6 as well. 1998 was the first year of the v-6 in the w210 round-headlight car.

Note this too: you can always spot a 1999 w210. The 1998 w210 has a small, squarer third brakelight, exactly the same specs as the one in the w124. The 1999 has a longer, lower-profile 3rd brakelight, like all subsequent years, but the 1999 has the details of the w210 before the facelift: a higher hood, longer mirrors without turn-signals built in, and the oval articulated tail-lamps. Oh yeah, the 1999 lacks the GPS antenna of the 2000 forward models...

Cheers!

GPS?

Lindsay,

I recently purchased the '99 W210 and I have the GPS antenna and the nav system. Was it an option in that year? or is there a difference in model year between the states and european versions? Have the V6 as well and where can I find see the differences in the "facelift" that you mentioned. I bought mine at an auction in Germany and had it shipped here to Dubai. I will be taking this fine car back with me next year to the States.

Thanks.

Some German options like the GPS and Navigation appeared in their 1999 Models and first appeared in the US on the 2000 models. I would love to see some pictures of your car 1999 especially the console with the Navigation system built in.

Yep, E55 KEV beat me to the punch...

I would love to see pics. I looked at a 1998 E430 that had the nav, but it was not the Comand unit but rather a silly taxi-meter-looking thing manufactured by Siemens and badged by MB... It did not have the nub on the roof but a flat device on the ledge of the back seat.

I do not think that I have ever seen a pre-facelift W210 with the nav nub on the roof...

Mitias, I think I am super jealous of your ride: did I read elsewhere that you have the rear heated seats?! That is nice! When I was shopping for my 1998 E320, I was shocked to see how many cars lacked the heated seats--a must during this horrible winter! Do you have xenon headlamps?

Yes the car does have the heated rear seats, which is a must when I take the car back to Virginia. It does little good here in Dubai but will come in handy later. The car came with Xenon headlamps which I really do like. At first, I did not pay much attention to having those headlamps, but now that I have them, I will definately change to xenon on my BMW. I highly reccomended them to all.

The NAV system on this car has the nub on the roof and the system is integrated into the cd/sound system. I will get some pics up in the next couple of days as soon as I am able to get the digital camera working.

The Mercedes GPS navigation system for pre-2000 E-Class models is this:
