E320 problem

Hi guys New on the forum.

I just need your help my father has a 1998 e320 that he got as a gift without the diff, but was informed that the car was running before the diff was removed.
So we decided to get a new battery to see if the engine is running before we buy the diff but it is just cranking not running at all.
Question: can the e320 engine run without the differntial? cause i know with my vr6 if the engine crank pully is out the engine will not run.

Any help will be apreciated,I already trid the searc but i was not succesfull and the car is in a good condition.

Out of curiosity, why is it missing a diff? The fact that they chose to get rid of the car versus replacing a diff (junkyard + independent mechanic is, what, a $500 fix?) might indicate something.

a/c warm and cold

Hi guys

I have a 98 e320 thats belongs to the big boss. His wife is complaining that the a/c is warm on left side and cold on the right side. Took it to 1 of our shops and their lead tech said the system was over charged. Corrected this problem and it seemed to work ok for about a week and now it's back. We also noticed there is a crazy whistling noise that seems to be coming from dash area. Sounds like a vacuum leak, however we tried using a smoke machine but the gauge pegs out. Might have a one way vac valve maybe?? any thoughts on this would be very helpful

You have 2 symptoms that indicate low r134a, the hissing and uneven temperature L/R. The duovalve sticking/bad might indicate the uneven temps but along with the hissing I would suspect it is now low on refrigerant.

Thumbs up

Thanks friend
I'll check the freon level and see if the duovalve is functioning correctly
