wagon 3rd row seats
So I'm still shoping for a used '00-'03 e320 wagon, and I got to thinking about the third row seats...
Do any of you wagon owners actually use them? Are they just a marketing gimmick? They are very small. It seems like only children could fit there.
Do any of you drive around with your kids back there? What about with a child and/or booster seat? Has anyone researched if this is allowed or even safe (with the child or booster seat, that is)?

The seats
are great,they are safe,an adult can sit there in a pinch,the extra space afforded by the foot well is a handy storage space.
Look around for the picture of the high speed rear collision of a w210 wagon. The whole back end remains inrtact and no one was injured.
My teens ride back there all the time as well as their friends fighting to get dibs.

They love it
for the drive in,back in the spot, pull the flip up seat bottoms and put them behind the tailgate and crank up the bass.
This is a factory test crash pic, but someplace on the forum is a real world shot and the back end remained intact and non crumpled.

at the fairgrounds, for a few weeks at the end of summer, they ususally do a huge blow up screen and play kids movies
