Wierd waxy burning smell from rear driver side tire after driving at high speed
After driving at 55 MPH for about 15-20 minutes and using the brakes a few times I noticed a wierd waxy burning smell coming from the driver side rear tire. After stopping the car I could feel a lot of heat, waxy burning smell and a faint, subtle smoke coming from inside the tire area. Definately not normal for ANY car. I also heard a little clicking noise coming from inside the tire area.
Any ideas? I've had the brakes (pads) changed and never had any problems of this sort before. I talked to my mechanic and he said it could be because they are newer pads and since I don't drive at high speeds often it could be the reason (not sure though!)
The other side tire was fine and I've noticed this only happens after driving a high speeds (50+ MPH). I also noticed when I was driving a little clicking noise but it went away when I used the brakes.
Thanks!
P.S. My car is a 98 E320 Wagon!
Also check if you have non oe rims that the lugs are not protruding into the e brake.
Something was installed wrong and be careful till you get it checked out.
