Fake MAF meters
I've replaced the MAF on my 96 E320 with 159k miles about two weeks ago and have gotten error code P0170 since. Will I did some research and came up with this.[/URL] I made a call to Bosch and they told me "We do not sell inserts only units that are made in Germany"; funny.. my local MB dealer tried to sell me the insert. The Bosch Rep gave me the names of two parts houses that would sell authentic Bosch parts. Worldpac and rockauto, the price at rockauto was $206 with shipping.
I"m now in waiting mode to see if this is the problem.http://www.air-mass-meter.com/2009/g...ir-mass-meter/

$150-$180
Delivered price. Real oem unit the whole thing from www.autohausaz.com
Germanstar may still carry the insert and last time I purchased one for a members car I checked all the numbers and it was bosch oem piece. Worked great. Don't know if they sell them for the M104 engine.
P0170 can also be triggered by a weak or tired O2 sensor, a leak in the intake system, and several other things like a bad fuel filter.
Instead of tossing parts at the problem find a local member with a M104 and swap in their MAF and see if it clears up your issue.Where did you buy the fake?
Ebay?
www.autohausaz.com delivers free over 50 bucks and you always get oem or oe.

Bosch box is NO guarantee
Just because it's in a Bosch box is no guarantee what your buying. I repeat what the Bosch rep said "we don't sell inserts only whole units"

Who said
anything about a box?
The insert is date code stamped and oem numbers unit stamped and is genuine oem bosch. The site you linked to also states USA is different in how it sells inserts from bosch. Check your engine number and or production date and look at the price on autohausaz.com.
And as stated before where did you get the maf you purchased?
And you need to do some more diagnostics to rule out other issues.
