Info on interior color combinations

I'm totally new to the MB world, but I am looking to get an E class for my wife. I was thinking an E320 from the 98 - 00 range. My wife really likes dark grey and black interiors. From some of the pictures I've seen online it looks like the 2000 dark interiors have a light grey piping for trim and the olders models have a color matched piping. Is this how the years were actually configured. My wife really likes the two-tone trim and I'm wondering if it only comes in the '00 and newer (meaning more $ for me!). I know it is a small thing, but it seems like it is the small things that matter to the ladies, where most guys could care less. On top of that, if I can afford it, I'd like to get her exactly what she wants. Thanks for the help.

The two tone interior is only on the E55 from 1999-2002 I believe.

Yes the light gray piping is from 2000 and up models. Prior to 2000 the "Black" interior was available. 2000 and up the interior is Charcoal.

If possible get the 2000 model. That is the first year of the Mid Model updates with many changes like:

Blinkers on outside mirrors
Tele-Aid
Navigation option
Voice Activation Option
Body colored lower panels
Body colored door handles
Shiftable Auto Transmission
Free Schedule Maintanance
Lower front end
Updated tail lights

E55 KEV,

Thanks for the help. It is amazing, if you do a nationwide search on e320's on Autotrader, you see prices from the low 20's to the high 30's. I am amazed that there is so much variation. Some of the cars are super high milage, but most of them seem very similar. It surprises me that there is such a variance.

It seems like the prices drop off rapidly once the milage hits about 45K on the '00 models. Is it worth the 5k difference in price to have a low milage car? It seems like these cars are solid and built for many hundreds of thousands of miles. It really surprises me the prices drop off so quickly with 10K or 20K more miles. Is this just from buyers being picky, or is there a reason to be leary of a car that has that much milage in a sort period of time?

Thanks again, my wife is going to flip when I bring one of these home.

I believe the prices drop off to very low after the warranty expires at 50k. My opinion is that it is very difficult to sell a car without a warranty especially since Mercedes Starmarked Warrantied cars are plentiful at a dealer.

A car above 50k miles & no warranty may be hard to move Good Luck!
