ISSUE WHEN REACHING 40 MPH
Hi,
I have another 1998 Mercedes Benz E320 with 102K miles on it. This car has been going through maintance on a regular basis and has been running smoothly. Recently while i am driving and i reach 40 MPH, the rpms go down and the warning light by the speedometer lights on and flashes and i cannot produce a faster speed than 40 MPH. This is a very dangerous issue since i cannot produce a higher speed on highways and such unless i wait a certain amount of time.
I do remember that i did have issues with the catalytic converter recently (hearing raddlings noises and such) but this went away within a few month period so i let it blow by and there is no more rattling noises, I let you know about this issue we had because maybe it could be related that the clogged catalytic converter went into the resignator.

Replace the cats
That is the problem and the car is going into 3rd gear limp mode.
You can get universal cats at magnaflow and have a muffler sop install both for under $200.

Bad cats do not go away
and if you wait they may do more damage or leave you stranded.
