Transmission rough at 1300 rpm in 4th gear

I have a 1997 E320. when the car is at 37 mph or so (rpm 1600 - 1800)and shifts to 4th gear, the rpm goes down to 1300 and that time the tranny (or engine?)make some sound. When I increase the rpm to 1500 or above the the sound goes away.

Did anyone notice this. Is this normal? the owner manual says something about low speed at 31 mph but I didn't quite understand it.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Check your engine and transmission mounts haven't collapsed first, then check that your front tailshaft coupling is ok. These can give unusual vibrations at different speeds and are easy to check although I suspect your torque convertor lockup clutch is worn which is giving you the vibration. You can try replacing the oil and filter first to see if it helps, but the only repair option if it's still making the noise is to remove the transmission and have the toque convertor overhauled. I'd try changing the oil first though, sometimes they clutch linings glaze up and new fluid can help get some more life out of them.
