gas light flashed then check engine light came on
I got gas earlier in the day and went home. Four hours later drove about an hour to my destination and when i came to a stop the gas light flashed and the check engine light came on. Checked the cap and it was not locked into position. after putting the gas cap on started my vehicle and check engine light is still on. Any ideas?

Never top off the tank
and make sure the cap is on properly and the cel will shut itself off after several good test cycles that the problem no longer occurs.

Jersey, welcome aboard. As Oh, Lord states, that flashing light is supposed to indicate a loose fuel cap. If you read the DTC for the CEL, you're likely to "large fuel leak" or something to that effect.
You might try fitting a new rubber gasket in the fuel cap itself. They're about $1 at the dealer. I keep an inventory of them in my basement just for this reason.
I think all the ethanol added to gasoline nowadays is causing unexpected issues. If this isn't easily resovled there may be another problem like the purge valve under the hood.
Take care.
