How to replace E430 Idler Pulley?
I thought it would be as easy as taking out the bolt and bolting a new one on. No such luck. It is a long bolt and hits the fan. Dont tell me I need to take out the radiator and fan! And of course my software that I bought that has the entire shop manual for my car is not working! Please help...I need step by step as I dont know hot to remove radiator, etc. Thanks.

Sorry but I think you need to remove the fan first. Unfortunately, there are two special wrenches -- a spanner which fits over the hub mounting bolts with an offset handle and a wrench for the fan nut. I tried for a while with regular tools and finally gave up and bought the right ones. I got mine on eBay (seller is zdmak) for about $45 for the set. BTW, nice Hazet ones from the dealer are almost $200. My Snapon guy says he has them now too. Don't know how much. Good news is that once the fan head is off you can also remove the fan shroud which makes working on the front of the engine much easier.
Good luck
