and you would eat your hat.
My wife was a mb service writer before you were born.
Been building and racing Mercedes for 40 years.
So I think I have you covered.
Like I said proof will tell when it rolls. Do keep us posted though with all your expertise.
BTW the E55 in the SC version is well over 500hp with almost no mods at all.
Tell me the bill for your engine when it runs and puts out 500hp if ever.
Love swap projects and not dissing the engine, just don't grasp the build cost of $4k for engine ,cost of car,$7.5 k your est to modify, transmission cost, fabrication, wiring, rear end etc etc etc.
But hey it's your time ,your dime
Glad to hear the Mercedes engines are so slow.

The blown 5.5L is a good engine. That said, the 2jz can easily make 500bhp with just BPU mods. Add a single turbo, and you're making 600rwhp on a bulletproof bottom end. Not to mention a brand new toyota shortblock is $1800.
The 55k motors go for more than $4k, then you still have the same mods for the manual tranny, so its not any cheaper.
Stop being ignorant. You clearly know nothing about the 2jz motor. Stock it came with 300bhp, or around 255rwhp. Given that its a turbo motor, some intake, exhaust, and tuning modifications, and you're looking at 450rwhp easy.

Now I'm really curious to see how this project turns out. I hope TheBenzManE55 keeps us all posted. I wish you luck and success.
Meantime, all this talk about horsepower from stock MB engines has got me even more curious.
500 HPs from a stock E55 SC version. Will this engine fit my wagon? I guess it will require that the tranny and rear end be changed as well? Engine electricals? Others?
Ohlord, is this possible? do you have a ballpark figure of how much a project like this will cost?

Me ignorant of the 2JZ?
rated 235 at the wheels and 315 ft lbs torque(a real torque monster,as the op states) and you are saying you can push it to over 200h.p. more at the wheels with simple mods? And I'm the ignorant one?
call your local ricer tuner and find out how much to make a dependable 450 hp at the wheels from a 2JZ. Not on laughing gas on motor.
Howie,I see you have one of those deplorably slow 55AMG's 4.5 second 0-60 must be an eternity
The sc version makes 517ft lbs of torque at 11lbs of boost at 2600 rpm 200 ft lb more at 1500 rpm lower then the 2jz
Add up the simple mods that will make the 2JZ do that
stage 2 2Jz short block capable of handling high boost $7800 fob.

I don't know, since ist's a V6, not a V8 if that would fit without mods, ... since the 430 and the 55 are both M113 that change works without any problems! (searching for a 55 "wreck" myself )

1991 SC Miata, 1999 W210 Estate Wagon
I think Ohlord has already done that on one of his wagons (E55 transplant). Actually, I'd like to hear the details of that conversion (electrical, transmission, mounting, DMV requirements, etc). That's something I'm interested in pursuing at some point (only when my engine dies).
TheBenzManE55... you are a brave and creative man. I can't wait until you've completed this project. I know it's gonna be awesome!

The E55
or the 2JZ?
I think he has his hands full right now doing the Asian engine
Now that all the dust has settled I appreciate what he is attempting
The E55 takes a donor car with the engine the harness the tcu the ecu and the drive authorization system other than that it is plug and play.
Oh and a good stout built Nag1 trans is a must when you start pushing up the E55 hp. IPT builds a nice 800hp rated unit and valve body with high stall converter for about 5k.That is going in this winter.
If I save enough pennies from selling all those tools and giving out basic maintenance advice
Offering to chip in and help a buddy build a 124 Wagon with all the sheet metal flares from a 500E
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_500E
The wagon Mercedes should have built
So it seems like a lot of swaps are going on this winter

I've actually seen something like this done to a W124 (correct me if I'm wrong) a while back on YouTube. Some guys in Japan were drifting showing off the power...Good luck! Shall prove to be interesting.

The MKIV North American Supra made 320bhp. Unless the car loses 30% to the drivetrain (LOL), it most certainly does not make 235rwhp. More like 270rwhp. Furthermore, engines are not rated at RWHP champ.
Now, unlike the 113, the forced induction 2jz GTE can easily get to 500bhp or about 425rwhp with basic mods like increased boost, intake and exhaust.
http://www.suprastore.com/450hppackage.html
The 2jz motor is bulletproof and 100% reliable at 450rwhp.
Howie drives a clk55, not an E55, and it is marginally faster. However, the E55 in the 210 body never made it to 60 any faster than 5.2 seconds. More stretching of the truth by ohlord? what a surprise.
Somehow the supercharged 113 comes in again. How about we stick with one motor to argue about. You can't claim the NA 5.5 is so great, and then run to the numbers of the supercharged version when you are getting smacked around. So either pick one or the other.
Finally, the stock toyota shortblock (which can or recently could be purchased for $1800), can easily stand up to 700rwhp easily. Thats about 25lbs of boost.
Now, if you want to talk about control arm bushings and fuel filters, cool. But you don't have a single clue what you're talking about in this thread and it shows.
P.S. WHERE ARE THE PICS AND INFO OF THE MERCEDES CARS YOU'VE BUILT AND RACED IN THE PAST 40 YEARS. I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT. RIGHT NOW, IT SEEMS YOU MAKE LOTS OF CLAIMS BUT CAN'T BACK IT UP.
