Ohlord call out thread
I've asked the gentleman about 5 times about his elusive Mercedes Benz racing history.
He has stated that he has raced Mercedes for 40 years multiple times, but he has not once provided any evidence (photos, documents, descriptions, race results, etc) of this race history.
Given that he attempts to use this to boost his credibility, I'd like some foundation.
So far, he has dodged the question several times, most notably in the "2jz swap" thread.
So Ohlord, lets see some of these MBs you've raced for the past 40 years.

Dude.
I couldn't care less if he's telling the truth or not. He knows a lot about 210 chassis Mercedes-Benz cars, and that's enough for me. His race history is not useful nor important here. He offers advice & knowledge. If you find something he says about 210 cars to be wrong, then say so & show why. If not, take his advice and use it. Or not. Who cares if he raced or not? He also claims to be a Vietnam Vet. I choose to believe that, but I don't care if he is or not. I'm not going to ask to see his dog tags.
I'm a mechanical engineer. Do I need to fax you my diploma before you'll believe anything I say here?

2. I'd like to see some pictures and info on cool MB race cars from 1969 until now.
Most of his advice is reasonably sound, but thats not what this is about.

Do you have some sort of self confidence problem that you have to go around calling out people who exaggerate aut themselves online? If that's your schtick, you'll be at it a LONG time... the internets are full of liars.
How about some trust? Maybe he just doesn't want to share that info for what ever personal reason? Maybe he's a really crappy racer, never wins a race, but does it just for fun & therefore has no racing record worth bragging about? He didn't ask you for your credentials (not that I could see anyway).
I don't like people who have to prove they know more about something just to participate in a conversation. I guess that means I don't like you. But I've never met you & you may have valuable advice for me, so I'll hold off judgement on whether I like you or not until/if I meet you someday.
Next time instead of proclaiming "you don't know jack sh!# about XYZ engines! I'm a 50-year veteran XYZ mechanic and I know more than you" how about "I don't know where you got your information, but I disagree with it, and here are some links that back me up..."
Now get over it, and enjoy the conversion thread.
Sheesh.
Oh, and I'm not defending ohlord. He said some lame things in that thread too. And he's annoyed me in the past as well. But he's not calling you out just to discredit you.
Besides racing cars doesn't mean he knows more about those cars than you, so what do you care if he raced them or pooped in them?

Ohlord has been helpful to me and others who have had problems on this board. I think that's the best you can hope for in a community like this.
Racing cars for 40 years might mean being an engineer or driver for a professional racing team. It might also mean going once or twice a year to a club race or auto cross event. Neither means you know or don't know about cars.
It's the internet. People aren't required to backup their claims, especially if it means revealing personally identifiable information. Sometimes that means they're lying, sometimes it means they don't care if others believe them or not, and sometimes it means they don't want to give personal information to strangers.

No,
the problem is when you let it get to you, to the point of starting an entire thread on the topic. So he feels he needs to bolster his credibility. So what? I don't know why he would need to, his posts in this forum and others provide enough credibility alone.

fortunately, I'm blessed, as I dont come here needing to have people prove
or reveal their credentials to me. as long as they're factual in their advice
in maintaining and repairing MBs, I'm just fine.
seems to me that some folks need to get out from behind the keyboard and
to enjoy life a bit more. inherent with the Internet, there will always be
some degree of hyperbole, embellishment, etc. as long has it is not directly
impacting the accuracy of repairs here, I have little concern

Just from a casual poster looking in. Who cares? At least he helps many people on here and on other mb websites solve their car issues because that is the reason we are here among other things? Oh lord bragging about something without proof is one thing, but I have seen no proof of that which would call for an investigation. GL all, I'm moving up to the w211 AMG status!

Dude Rob(OHLORD) has helped me and a million othe people on this site and many other sites. Lets not be children here and "Call out" people. I dont undestand why he would lie about something like that. Everything that person said has been true. There is nothing about a Mercedes that man cant answer. And yes agree with other posters here..........WHO CARES!!!! LET IT GO!!!!
If I told you some of the cars have driven at 21 years old you would call BS on me in no time. But what am I suppose to do? Take a video of every Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Maybach I have driven? If that is the case the world would be one large MTV LOL. People following other people around with cameras lol
