Transmission Slipping

98 E320. Tranny started slipping between 3 and 4th gear. Getting worse. Cant check fluid level, because theres no dipstick (how stupid). Not getting any electronics codes. Not sure when the or if a tranny service was ever done, have 162k miles. Any ideas?

Park it; get the dip stick or make your own from the dimensions posted online and check the fluid level. Hopefully, the change in weather and low fliud is the culprit. Check for fluid contamination at electrical connection from computer to trans. If fluid is present, check opposite end at TCU too.

Must use MB's (almost) proprietary fluid.

In my expirience, 722.6's go out quick once they develop problems.

Fluid change?

Fluid level is fine. Going to do a fluid and filter change. Anyone have any tips or tricks? Seems pretty easy as long as the torque converter has drain plug.
