Hi, I am getting ready to change my coolant. Can someone briefly explain the process to me? I am having a mechanic do it.
Is there anything else that should be looked at or replaced when doing this job.

There's a valve at the bottom of the radiator. Open the overflow tank caps up top to assist draining.
Simple way: drain, fill with 50/50 coolant and distilled water.
Better way. Drain, fill with distilled water, run until warm to circulate. Repeat as desired. Fill with coolant and a little water. This will flush more of the old coolant out, but you need to ballpark the mixture since you're flushing with a lot of water.

I've always drained the radiator, flushed twice with DW and allow to engine cool between flushes. Add the proper amount of 100% antifreeze and top of the system with DW. Run for a day and check concentration with a hydrometer and adjust as necessary.

Flush is probably overkill if your coolant is just old. I go with the 80% method:
Drain 2 gallons into a bucket from the radiator and refill with a gallon of new coolant and a gallon of distilled water. Drive with the heater on while taking your old coolant to the disposal place to help bleed any air out.
