Oil type/brand for e320 4matic
I would use Mobil 1 0w40 or German Castrol (aka Syntec 0w30) if you want to use an MB 229.5-specced oil
To save a few bucks I would use Mobil 1 10w30 "high mileage" as it meets ACEA A3/B3/B4 euro long drain specs and can be had in 5qt jugs at Walmart for $22. It is not officially 229.5 approved, but is very similar in specification to German Castrol, and should have some esters for "seal conditioning".
If you want the best long-drain oil out there, use Amsoil AFL 5w40
If you want the best high performance oil available (ester based), use Redline 5w30, 0w40, or 5w40.
For your engine MB recommends an oil which meets their 229.5 spec. A commonly available oil (PepBoys, Kragen, Walmart, etc) is Mobil 1 Synthetic (European Formula) 0W-40. Normally sells for $6.99 at PepBoys.
Here is a link to a document that lists all recommend fluids and lubricants for your car including the 229.5 oils. FYI - a fleece filter is also required if you are going to use the FSS to compute oil change intervals.

Good luck.

Technically you could use just the filter as the filter kit just adds the replacement o-rings. I just get the kit and replace the o-rings each change (yearly for me). Free shipping for orders over $50 so you might get a couple and an air filter or whatever.
