Help ...... "Light Defective" Hell......

Ok I new here so excuse my stupidity!

1999 E320 4 door petrol .....
it was sent by a quack electrician who re arranged the rear lights beacuse he couldnt get one side to work..... (he connected the left side to the right side ....?).

Now I went to the MB dealer in my area who brought everything back to normal...... but......they say a sensor is damaged ... the one that give you the "light Defective" message on the dashboard....


What is it ?, where is it ? and can I get it and replace it without having to pay them another arm and leg?

It's might be your brake light switch located above your brake pedal. Not that expensive and very easy to replace.

Nope.. the sensors to determine a faulty bulb are integrated in the light switch fuse box, (is a black block with 10 +/- fuses & the light switch integrated) you can chech the fuses via opening driver door & removing the cover on the side dash. this fusebox have integrated the blown bulb sensors, we need to replace some of that in our workshop. i recommend you buy some via ebay:
