Hi,

I just had my new depo projectors completed and i was wondering before i install them which bulbs you use for the inner day light running lamps, and the outter. Where did you purchase them. What temp are they.

Thanks a lot

For me, I used a set of WHITE LED 194-type bulbs with an in-line resistor to each one. The only catch is that you're going to have to make the hole of the city/parking light to accomodate to the larger LED bulbs. The color temp looks to be around 4100K to 4400K. There's a slight blue-green tint to them.

That looks pretty cool!

I wonder how yellow would look instead of the amber. I love the amber, but curious to the yellow also

The place that I got the amber LED strips for the demon eyes said that this color *was* yellow. If you can find a supplier that has real yellow LED strips, I'd love to see it too!

Thanks...right now, its sitting in the garage getting each section a clay bar, polish, and seal as I find time for it. That black paint needs to look its best!

around $600 if you have to purchase ballasts, bulbs, strips, projectors, lenses, and headlights.

When I was taking apart the depo h7 projector, I noticed that it comes with clear lenses. I was wondering if anybody has put those clear lenses into the E55 or RS6 projectors instead of buying another set from ebay. The convex of the glass looks comparable with the RS6 projector.

The clear portion of the lense is only *part* of the solution. The focal point is what determines whether or not your output is sharp. I had a set of clear lenses for a Subaru WRX, but the lense was too thick, so the output was horrible. There's a focal *sweet-spot* for every projector and the ZKW replicas are the ones that I used.

yeah I'm doing a retrofit for my friend and I ordered some ZKW-Rs from TRS. Same setup you're using, minus the demon eyes, which by the way looks great! Maybe before I drop the ZKW-Rs in there, I'll try dropping the depot clear lens and check out the beam pattern.

just about anything is possible but the TLs are about 33% larger than the
RS-6. major plastic trimming and fabrication will be needed. someone
on this forum fab-ed using Depo and TL about 2 yrs ago and reported that
the side/side coverage was fabulous. he may be the only one who has done
this and reported back. most folks use E55/Maxima bix, or the RS6 because
the footprint lends itself to relatively easy fabrication to the Depo.

+1 on the TL projectors being huge. I have retrofitted a set before... well sort of still in the process of... and it's a complete pain, especially in a smaller headlight housing than the W210s'. If you are ready to take on a slightly harder retrofit, I'd definitely recommend it, as the beam pattern is absolutely beautiful!

i'll add your name to my notes. I see the other guy who pulled off a TL mod
was mikey33, whom I believe has sold his early 210 for an E55 so hangs out
with the big dawgs on the AMG forum now.

I'm actually retrofitting the TL projector into a Honda housing and I'm just in the process of fitting RS6 projectors into the W210 depo housing for a friend.

This looks really good! In fact I want to give it a go and do it myself.
BUT, what exactly did you use?
From my understanding you purchased a pair of projector headlights (with clear lense), then purchased another pair of projectors to replace the ones that came in the projector headlights? then you used an HID kit?
I'm currently just using an H7 style HID setup in my factory assembly... it's quite bright, but not very focused and doesn't have that super crisp cutoff that yours has!
Guessing I'll have to change this to a D2s or something to suit the new ZKW projector?
Could you provide me links to where you sourced your headlight assembly/projector/anything else etc.
Thanks!

edit: any difference for RHD cars cause i'm RHD.

the Depo 210s have come down in price the past year. when I started this
about 3-4 yrs ago, the street price was $350+. they can be found for about
$100 less now with a bit of Google/Ebay shopping around

to the OP, or anyone else knowledgable, how did you wire them in 'parallel'?
I understand the concept of parallel wiring however when the headlights turn on do they amber leds turn off or are they just not visible?
I had led lights on my lower bumper which I would like to have constantly on (so need a recommendation for constant 12v power with ignition on) but then want them to switch off when I turn my fogs on.
Any thoughts?

The LEDs will be on, but they won't be visible.

Did your D2s plugs fit under the dust covers? I ran into this problem and had to dremel out a hole on the back of them. And the quality of depo is absolutely terrible. I've had to glue bits and pieces of plastic tabs together and somehow the chrome is coming off the shroud when I wiped it with a damp towel.

Yes, I had to dremel out the back, but I covered and silicone-sealed it with mini-plastic planting pots from Home Depot. They're about the same diameter as the cover itself and 1/2" thick. No issues with moisture.
