Looking for Carlsson front bumper and side skirts...

Just like every other person that is looking for that hard to find Carlsson front bumper for 96-99 W210 models, I am in search of one too (like the one in the pic.) including the side skirts. I tried a couple of the sites that I saw listed in some previous postings and came up with zilch! If anyone knows anywhere, like a junkyard or private party person that has these, please let me know. Thanks in advance...

A bit ricey, but it's probably the best way to find a decent looking replica. It's all good except for the front bumper side vent.

I am sorta local to jtautostlye...last time I ask them to do the kit, they said no. It was a "special" order for a "special" client...hummm...

Maybe they changed their mind?

Carlsson...

I just called jtautostyle and I spoke to 2 different guys over there who both gave me the same info. They do not stock the knock-off Carlsson bumper but they could have it custom made. The cost is around $800 w/out paint. They would charge another $200 for paint and mounting. That's a little extreme for a knock-off for me so I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer and see what I can come across. Thanks for your help...

That's depends how you compare the price. If you compare the price for cost of material and labor...probably a bit high. Comparing it to Japanese knock off, mediocre. compare to the originals, cheap.

I mean the real carlsson body kit is probably $3000, for $1000 painted...it's a steal.

I know a place that does Walds knock offs, and it's around $700 Same goes for Brabus knock offs.

I agree with you on the comparison to the real thing , it is reasonable but you mentioned $3000 for the full kit. You are correct but I don't need the rear bumper. I got such a great deal on an OEM Carlsson one ($300 vs. $899 retail) that I couldn't pass it up is the reason I bought it. I spent another $150 on paint and mounting at my buddies shop. I am hoping to hang out and wait (more time than money) to see if I hopefully come across the real thing. I have a set of used side rocker panels on hold right now for $400 (they are knock-offs) but I'll end up waiting if I can't find the front. Thanks for you help and insight...

If $1k is too much for a kit, then don't even ask me how much my Lorinsers cost.

Hank, if the whole kit was $1000 there wouldn't be a question. I can just imagine what you paid for an OEM Lorinser kit! I just need the front bumper and in my opinion, $1000 for a knock-off Carlsson front bumper mounted on my car is a bit much for me. I might be wrong but I would rather wait and hopefully come across the real thing...

Best Regards...

That's a prudent decision.

I was looking for the same kit and came up empty. I settled for the 2000-2002 Carlsson kit with the front & rear bumper lips that I'm having the body shop install as we speak. The 2000-2002 side skirts will fit a pre 2000 W210.

I was able to find a company in the UK that will sell the 96-99 front bumper w\o park. But if price is an issue, shipping that piece over might be too much.

For what its worth: http://www.birds.uk.com/

I have the 2000-2002 rear wing from Carlsson that I'm not going to install and also the Carlsson sport exhaust/muffler w\o the tips.
I would let both go for $650 plus shipping.

You guys are way out of range. When it was available, the FULL carlsson '96-99 kit was 1400 total, for unpainted front, rear bumpers, and side skirts. Its just a matter of finding them... Tire rack was a little high, at 1600. Oh yeah, you need the $50 carlsson jack too.

LOL. I don't want the whole kit, I am not much a fan of the side skirts on that kit, a little ricey. The rear bumper is nice, however I think I like the look of the new 2000+ amg rear bumper/sideskirt combo better, so I will likely find a carlsson front bumper and do the rest AMG. Hey maybe with the wheels, side skirts, and bumpers, I can justify an AMG badge........ Hmmm AMG TURBODIESEL...that would surely confuse everyone

I too am just looking for the Carlsson front bumper like the one I posted in the pic. earlier (the sides are kind of ricey) and agree that it is too hard to find. I am going to have to think of something else to do, unless someone can find a source and let us know. I have a good friend who owns a body shop so I am going to experiment with a couple of ideas I have and if it works, I will reply to this thread with the outcome. Lightman, in my opinion I don't think you should display an AMG badge for the fact of what's under your hood. I too was thinking about it but since I have an E420 and hopefully all of the exterior will be Carlsson, I think a Carlsson badge will be coming soon. I'll have to wait and see what the outcome will be with the front bumper search. Good luck with the upgrades and thanks to all for the info.

Jimmy it was a joke about the badge. Rebadging is gay, in all cases IMO. Anyway, good luck finding the parts. I have found a few sources that are willing to import and actually can get the bumpers, but their prices are ridiculous, around $1300 for just the front bumper alone, and $2700 for the kit. Tire rack sold the whole kit for $1300 as did most US retailers. What a shame I didn't buy it when I could have, its thoroughly annoying now. However I did hear a new US distributor would be opening soon. We'll see.

Lightman, I'm glad it was a joke and agree with your answer on re-badging. Also, you're right, the price is a little ridiculous for the front bumper alone. Anyway, I am talking with someone right now about Carlsson parts who might hopefully have a connection. If I come up with anything worth mentioning, I will definately post it here and let everyone know. Take care...
