You have a couple of choices on a manual.
You can look for one on ebay but sometimes sellers are asking more than a dealer charges.
You can just get the correct one at the dealer.
I would strongly encourage you to get the correct manual for a 1997. There are minor changes and while, say a 1999 manual will answer a lot of questions; it can also be confusing when it doesn't match what you're seeing on the car.
Here in the US we can join www.mbusa.com (it's free) and view/download a manual in the owners section. Maybe there's something like that in SA.
Also, if you have a specific question about your car, please feel free to post it. I'm sure someone here has an idea.
