Conti-procontacts lasted 20K miles, should i switch?

About a year and a half ago i replaced all four of my original tires, well original to me since i bought the car, with 4 new conti-procontacts. I blew one sidewall out the other day in a pot hole and the driver side tire has developed a big bubble in the sidewall. They still half maybe 1/4 to half life left in them. I'm debating whether to just replace the two fronts with the same tire or go with new set of 4 different tire. What you think? Btw, i have only put 20,000 miles on this set.

Well, if they have 1/4 to 1/2 the tread then you're getting about 30K per set which is not that bad.

Tire life is a lot like gas mileage. It varies a lot with driving style. Spirited driving reduces both. But it's your car and you're entitled to enjoy driving it.

Most ContiProContacts have a 60K warranty so you might want to see if a dealer will prorate the replacements. The tire with bulge may be covered but the pot hole (road hazard) is only first 2/32nds or 12 mos.

Good luck.

I'd repace the two and replace the other two when they wear out. Those are good tires

I have 45k miles on a set of Fuzion HRI and never rotated them. The right rear was leaking a little and I noticed is was almost worn in the center so I just replaced that one ($80 shipped online) this week. That is the drive wheel and wore the fastest. The rest of them have at least 10-15k of tread left. Great tires. Handle excellent and very quiet.

My used car came with new ProContacts. I rotated them regularly but they were shot before 20,000. I drive moderately so that's not it. I liked the handling/feel but they had a short life.

I just bought one and found it the cheapest at:
http://www.roadwaywholesaletire.com

The last set I bought from Tirerack.com 4 years ago for about the same price. Check out the reviews on Tirerack.
