Daimler Announces Steering Wheel Replacement

"Sindelfingen, Germany - Daimler AG officials announced today that owners of the W210 model E-Klasse Mercedes Benz will be eligible for replacement steering wheels. Many owners have complained of deterioration of the leather covering. Each owner can chose to have the steering wheel replacement of their choice including the burlwood and birdseye maple models. There will be no charge for the replacement. VP of Sales and Marketing, J.M. Kuhlwasser, said "Our W210 owners are some of the most loyal of all owners and we want to make sure they are happy." No date was given for the start of the replacement program."

richard, does this include all w210s sold in usa? that would be great timing since i was thinking of buying the replacement leather that goes around the steering wheel, and those are a pain to install. hopefully will be sometime this summer.

I can't believe this is legit. I certainly hope it is. April fools?

Steering wheels are around a grand a pop. MB is really going to take a hit like this on a car out of production for over 8 years??

Forget that...

What about the air bags? The buttons are dirty and they are starting to wear down. Makes the steering wheel look absolutely disgusting.

If this is legit, then this would be nice because mine is getting worn out. What if you're not the original owner of the car? I'm the 2nd.

Sindelfingen doesn't seem to sit right here...even though they've got an AG production plant there, it seems like this should come from the ol' Mercedesstrasse Stuttgart...BUT I hope I'm proven wrong and that this isn't an April fools...because this would be a nice thank you to the faithful 210 owners

Hope everyone enjoyed a little fun. It gets too serious out here some of the time.

But it does say something about MB customer service reputation that several people thought it might be true.

BTW, Kuhlwasser = cooling water as in the radiator.
