Coolant Flush E320 w210
Just flushed my coolant with mb genuine and distilled water 50/50 mix
I could not find the drain plug on the engine block, even though it is mentioned in the owners manual w/o any pics or descriptions.
So i remove the lower hose and also the petcock on the radiator to drain.
Also replaced the thermostat with a new one from autohauz.
Does anyone have a pic of where that drain plug is and next time is it worth the hassle?
thnx.

Ok , thanks but confused as to why the owners manual on page 262 talks about a drain plug for the 2001 e320 4matic.

When completely draining and flushing the cooling system I would also replace the thermostat. It's cheap and prevents cooling problems and keeps the heater working properly during winter. If I rememer correctly a thermostat with new gasket costs € 14.- at the dealer. I do this every two years.

Mine says that too (on p.109) on the engine right side, but from what I see in my repair manual, and going on memory from when I last looked, I haven't seen it. If there is one, no one uses it because you get the entire 2 gallons out from the radiator draincock.

There is a drain fitting on the right side of the block. It looks like a male hose fitting. There is no external hex, just an internal hex for a hex socket. I have never gotten more than a few drops out of the block drain fitting after I drained the radiator through the drain plug, so I no longer try to use the block drain fitting. I posted a detailed writeup here a number of years ago about this.
