300 td has wierd deacceleration

300 td has wierd deacceleration
this is my first diesel so im not sure if this is normal, thought i'd ask. 1999 e300 td. everything about it runs perfect except for one thing. when i let off the gas...mainly at slower speeds where the trans would be in 1st or 2nd gear...it seems to be a choppy/missing deaccereration. only when i let off the gas.
is this a normal thing?
